The Taylor Made Group was founded by Dean Taylor following a hugely successful career as a civil engineer. His passion in life is transforming ugly, unloved buildings into aesthetically pleasing, sustainable properties that improve the communities around them.

His background has always involved the built environment. Dean studied civil engineering and construction management at university and shortly after completing his degrees invested in his first terraced development property. He made a relatively small investment, transformed it and sold it at a 117% profit. He continued to develop his career in the sector and worked in both the military and as a consultant. With over 200 high profile land and property transformation projects under his belt, his skills are highly developed.

Experienced, trust worthy and reliable property development

Dean has worked with many high profile companies, including Kier, Alstom, Interserve (Now Tilbury Douglas), and Northern Rail. Projects included the £145m Derby Energy from Waste Project and the Moorland Prison development, which involved a £27m new improved offender accommodation block and education block. At Northern Rail, he was a principal consultant for the £38m Station Improvement Fund (SIF) which focused on improving accessible and station facilities for customers and played a role in bringing the £650m NET2 tram network to Nottingham.

Alongside his consultancy, Dean also continued to buy and transform both commercial and residential properties for himself, always keeping in mind the difference he could make with the type of building he developed.

This has led him to create the Taylor Made Group (fondly known as TMG). Dean and his team have seen the possibilities and profits that property investment can make – if it’s done well. TMG’s strength lies in finding great opportunities and developing those into sustainable accommodation at the best possible return for investors.

Should I buy and hold property?

Many people are interested in property development but don’t know where to start. Buying your own property is a complex business with a lot of pitfalls if you don’t get it right. There are many factors to consider, such as the state of the building, its location, and all the legalities involved. Being a hands-off investor may be the route to go down – you can invest an agreed sum, with agreed returns over an agreed period – much more agreeable!!

Do you only work within the UK?

Yes we do. Our knowledge and experience has been built up over many years specifically around the UK built environment and there are so many opportunities available we do not need to look beyond our own shores. According to National Statistics the number of households in England is projected to increase from 22.7 million in 2014 to 28.0 million by 2039.

We are however open to overseas investors that are keen to invest in the UK.

How long have you been doing this?

Our founder and director, Dean Taylor, has been in property all his life. His parents were keen property developers, and his interest in it carried through to university and beyond. There are a lot of people that tell you that they are property developers but very few have the credentials and experience to carry out those developments to the exacting standards that TMG delivers – and continually deliver the returns that investors desire.
